一个月前,荷兰多家纸媒都发布了一则提示:“注意未干的颜色,当你进入梅佩尔博物馆!” 事实证明这是一个很好的建议,因为所有进入博物馆钟鼐工作空间的人几乎都会被吸入一个颜料自由流动的激动人心的世界。安静的冥想与压倒性的创作过程交替出现 ......这是如我所知的钟鼐的工作状态,而现在,在梅佩尔博物馆创作的同时间或要拿出大量的时间和机会与进入博物馆的观者进行互动和交流,那将是一种怎样的情形?

It seems like a minor incidental : the flyer announcing the exhibition project Zhongnai at work in Stedelijk Museum Meppel contains the warning : Preferably do not come in your Sunday suit !It turns out to be good advice, because anyone who enters the project space in which the Mongolian Zhongnai Hashuury is working is almost literally sucked into an exciting world where the paint flows freely. In the space meditative moments and an overwhelming creative process alternate. And there is also plenty of time and opportunity for interaction and communication.

近年来,钟鼐阶段性的在荷兰、中国北京和杭州交替生活和工作,他的艺术发展正处于重新定位的过程。这意味着需要反复不断的尝试去进入一个新的局面,对于一个中年艺术家来说,他更感到那种迫切 他在寻找一个答案,探索艺术的本质,回归自我,而梅佩尔博物馆的驻馆展出项目及提供的创作空间就像一个实验室。“我想尝试以一种新的展览方式,在流动与变化中呈现我的作品,更贴切一些说,展览是活着的,是我将三个月的创作时间从画室搬到博物馆, 让它成为一个行为过程”。

Zhongnai lives and works alternately in Meppel,Beijing and Shang hai. His artistic development is in a phase of repositioning. The artist feels an urgent need to experiment and break new ground. For him, the project space in Stedelijk Muse um Meppel functions as a laboratory in which he searches for the roots of his artistry: back to the essence. For years he was internationally successful with exhibitions of poetic and colorful paintings. Now he takes the time to research and develop new forms of work and ideas. Visitors are allowed to look over his shoulder, ask questions and enter into a dialogue with him.

 “现在明显感到我在这个博物馆空间更自然与自在了”,钟鼐不无欣喜的对我说,虽然我知道那并不轻松。钟鼐在博物馆的创作已经展开数周了,这个过程中艺术家与公众的互动有了积极的进展,“我与公众的交流已经从一开始的对我的工作方式、我的文化背景和出身以及我对荷兰的选择等方面的关注慢慢转移到艺术本身了,在创作间歇我每次都会试着完成与人们的交流,我越来越多的感觉到在交流的同时也是对创作思路的自我梳理、反复的尝试性叙述使自己在理论和理性框架的层面上认识更为清晰和明朗,那是与我自己的对话”。

在钟鼐进行尝试性创作的空间、乃至整个博物馆都感染着这位来自东方的艺术家的精神,从展厅的入口处最近创作的一幅作品, 一件悬挂着的由 15 个小部分以混合媒体制作的艺术品,到绝对引人注目的展览大厅中令人印象深刻的巨幅双联画,他在尝试使用不同的材料进行制作,将亚麻布、纸、纸板和丙烯等混合材料作为图像的决定因素。《冥想.风景》是此次展览和驻馆创作活动的主题。在这个过程中他将自己使用的颜色限制在仅有的黑色、白色、和土黄色,创作空间里有三个装满颜色的桶和一桶水。钟鼐经常混合桶中的颜色, 甚至更多时候是将不同的材料浸入丙烯颜料里,随着身体的移动,他将自己变成了一个常规意义上的画笔,在画布前甚至与材料及颜料一起行走在画布上 ...... 。“在博物馆工作与在我的工作室工作给人一种完全不同的感觉,我想通过在博物馆中展示日常的创作状态和过程来分享我的精神之旅,以减少日常创作过程与展览之间的距离”钟鼐强调说。

Zhongnai has now had a few weekends in which the interaction with the public developed in a positive way: I now feel clearly more at ease. In the beginning, the conversations went differently than they do now. They are almost always about my work and about my cultural background and origin and about my choice for the Netherlands. Political subjects are usually not discussed. People experience my work and method as overwhelming. I try to work through the conversations, but sometimes it is necessary to take a break, because talking and working do not always go hand in hand , " he says. He adds with a smile: The most heard comment now is: Well done! " Not only the project space breathes the spirit of the Chinese  artist. Recent work by him can also be seen in the other exhibition halls. In the hallway hangs a 15 - piece artwork executed in mixed media.  Absolute eye-catcher is an impressive diptych in the wedding hall, also executed with different materials, with canvas usually serving as an image carrier for a mixed technique with paper and acrylic paint as image determinants. The exhibited works of art all have the same title: Meditation Scenery. In doing so, the artist refers to the process he is currently involved in and to which he unconditionally surrenders. He limits himself to the use of black, white, gray and yellow ocher.  In the project room are four large buckets filled with the aforementioned colors and a bucket of water. Zhongnai often mixes the colors in the buckets.

“我探索的不单纯是艺术本身的问题,更是艺术家本身的问题,它有一定的哲学意义,对我的艺术和我的生命,这是一个过程,我想通过这样一个过程来给自己一个答案, 一个艺术家对于生命的诉求。对我来说,创作艺术是艺术家自身的内在需要。这是一场终生的旅程,堪比一个萨满修行中专注的冥想经历和旅程”。也正因如此, 这些年来钟鼐的艺术创作变得越来越抽象。“这一切都与我需要回归艺术本身有关,”他解释说。“我试图摆脱所有的杂念,这样我才能完全关注我的内心与视觉图像的对话。每当开始创作时,我都犹如踏入了一个探索和冒险的世界。引领我进入一个新的、未知的和神秘的目的地。一路走来,间或有惊喜,但更多的是困惑,纠结,犹豫与徘徊甚至是恐惧,但随着我不停的摸索, 我的勇气和信心都在不断的增长。

Working in the museum gives a completely different feeling than working in my studio, emphasizes Zhongnai. In addition, I can now view the exhibited works of art, including the diptych in the wedding hall, from a distance for the first time. the results of my current method clearer visible and I also see the positive, complementary effects of working outside my studio. Painting with acrylics and paper on canvas suits me more and more and that method takes on new dimensions here in the museum. What does remain is the basic principle that I follow my inner voice. For me, making art is an inner necessity. It is a life long journey, comparable to the experience of a shaman absorbed in meditation. Therefore, I want to share my spiritual journey by presenting the studio here in the museum, in order to reduce the distance between the daily creative process and the exhibition. "Over the years, Zhongnai's art has become more abstract." It has everything to do with my need to return to the essence of art," he explains. "I try to get rid of all the distracting thoughts so that I can focus directly on the dialogue with the visual assets and the image. When I paint, I step into a world of exploration and adventure.  put on work clothes, will the cloth or paper a ticket to a new, unknown and mysterious destination. Along the way, I encounter surprises, fear or uncertainty, but as my courage and confidence grow, my creations become more progressive, more confident and unexpected.

钟鼐既是自由思想者,也是一个世界公民。“我感觉自己就像一个被纯粹情感引导的诗人,”他强调说,“全心全意地工作对我来说意味着生命存在的真实,我遵循着自己的感受和想法。我需要在工作中不断地否定自己,从而不断地给自己一个新的艺术生命。那不是意味着创造和谐、平衡或舒适的作品,而是关于我的内在自我与纸上和画布上出现的作品之间的匹配与整合。我渴望比以往任何时候都更能体验到思想的自由和灵魂的解放,在艺术创作中不断反复的建立与打破是一个非常艰辛但又迷人的过程,是一个越来越接近自己的过程 "。

Zhongnai is both a free thinker and a citizen of the world. "I feel like a poet who is guided by pure emotion" he emphasizes. Working with heart and soul means to me very literally: following what I feel and think. My motivation for making art can be traced back to the need to give myself a new lease of life in my work.  It is not primarily about creating harmony, balance or comfort zone, but about a perfect match between my inner self and the works that arise on paper and canvas. During corona I experienced more than ever that the soul can be liberated, even though the body is locked up.  D The creation process of the Chinese artist is based on intuition. "Following strict logic does not suit my way of thinking and working", he explains. Intuition I consider creative logic a reliable compass I find the constant processes of change in a person's life an extremely fascinating fact In recent years I was thrown back on myself due to the isolation as a result of corona The banishment to my studio  led to a process in which I came closer and closer to myself. The inner explorations yielded a new visual language. Now, as a follow-up to that contemplative period, I want to communicate with the outside world again about what concerns me and what I find important. "

钟鼐(韩恒威),锡伯族,毕业于鲁迅美术学院版画系。1999年移居欧洲,从事绘画创作。现居荷兰、葡萄牙与中国, 独立艺术家。
绘画作品多年展出于荷兰、比利时、德国、葡萄牙、捷克、法国、中国等地画廊、美术馆、博物馆及相关文化艺术机构。
 代表作品有《 心 · 境 》、《冥想 .风景》等系列作品。
 
Zhongnai was born into a family of Xibo nationality in Northeast China. Was studying and receiving his bachelor of Arts degree from LUXUN academy of Fine arts, Having worked on painting, exhibiting, art teaching and the research into the folk-custom of the Ethnic Minorities in North China for many years.
In the end of 1999, Zhongnai settled in Europe and began his creative life as a professional artist. He held his exhibitions in Holland, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, France, Czech and China . Has been joined the international art fairs in Gent , Rotterdam, Utrecht, Groningen and Beijing many times.
